About Us
At Write the Wrongs, we believe every voice deserves to be heard, and every story deserves a chance to be told. We bridge the gap between silence and self-expression by partnering with MFA programs to train emerging writers while bringing fiction and poetry workshops to communities where creative writing is rarely an option. In classrooms, shelters, libraries, and beyond, we create spaces where those who have never had access to storytelling can discover the power of their own words.
Our programs don’t just teach craft—they open doors. Participants gain a platform for self-expression, cultural preservation, and healing while envisioning a future where they, too, can be writers. By connecting passionate MFA students with those who have long been unheard, we turn the blank page into a place of possibility, transformation, and belonging.

Bruce Asper
Bruce Asper is the Executive Director of Write the Wrongs, where he leads the organization’s mission to bring creative writing opportunities to underserved communities. A passionate educator and advocate for the power of storytelling, Bruce previously served as the Student Director of Writers in the Community, a nonprofit that has provided creative writing workshops to marginalized populations in Spokane, WA, for over 30 years. As both an instructor and leader of the program, he taught writing to individuals in recovery at Recovery Café, later expanding the program’s reach by 300% and establishing four new workshop placements in a children’s hospital, a senior center, and an LGBTQ teen drop in center.
Bruce brings a unique perspective to his leadership, having transitioned into the world of writing and education after a successful career in commercial real estate and private equity. Originally from Newport Beach, CA, and now based in Spokane, WA, he is committed to ensuring that fiction and poetry are accessible to those who have never had the chance to develop their voices. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Arizona State University and an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) at Eastern Washington University.
“My journey with WITC began in 2023 as a student teacher at Recovery Café, where I witnessed firsthand the power of writing to restore, empower, and heal. In a room filled with individuals battling addiction, I saw stories provide both an outlet and some hope where there had been frustration and despair. When one of our students passed away, I experienced something profound: grief being transformed into creativity. Through working on their recovery and writing about grief, our students found a way to process their pain, honor a life lost, and forge a path forward. That moment solidified what I already believed—our stories are important.”

Daisy Roberts
Daisy Roberts is an Administrative Media Specialist for Write the Wrongs. Daisy graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing. At EWU, Daisy was the social media manager for Willow Springs Magazine and Head Editor of Northwest Boulevard, where she learned social media management, digital and print layout design, and editorial writing.
As a writer herself, Daisy is thrilled by the mission of Write the Wrongs. While working at Northwest Boulevard, most of the authors published by Daisy’s team were new, emerging authors who had never been previously published. She loved seeing writers finally accomplish their dreams of seeing their name and writing in print. Daisy is grateful for programs like Write the Wrongs that bring the joy of writing and storytelling to those who have not been able to participate before.
